ACTION stands for Adult Center Toward Independent Occupational Needs.
In the Life Skills and Therapy area of ACTION, clients are first given a comprehensive assessment to determine strengths and needs in order to develop an Individual Program Plan (IPP) to assist each individual in gaining greater independence in all areas of life.
The IPP encompasses several different areas and each plays an integral role in the overall success of the plan. These areas include but are not limited to:
- Self-Care-hygiene, first aide, emergency response
- Cooking-nutrition, grocery shopping, meal preparation
- Household Management-household cleaning, laundry, money management
- Recreation/Leisure-personal fitness, computer skills, arts and crafts, puzzles, table games, etc.
In addition to a variety of skill sets, individuals are immersed in social development which prepares them to be successful in areas such as interpersonal relationships, civic awareness, environmental awareness and job skills.
In cooperation with the Primary Care Physician, Occupational, Physical, and Speech Therapy along with Nursing Services are provided for adults who qualify.
Transportation and meals are provided to clients and a team of trained professionals work one-on-one with each individual to ensure they are progressing through their IPP.
