The athletes of ACTION Services competed in State Special Olympics in Searcy, Arkansas on Friday, May 19. To compete in the state competition, each athlete qualified in the Area 17 Special Olympics competition held in Vilonia earlier this month. Months of preparation and training led to their success. These ACTION Services athletes won medals in the event listed:
Kathy Wood – 100m walk 1st place and standing jump 3rd place
Amber Raney – 50m walk 1st place
Paige Bowens – tennis ball throw 1st place and wheelchair race 1st place
Kyle Ostrowski – long jump 4th place
Haley Gilbert – long jump 1st place and 400m run 1st place
Zyon Ferguson – 400m run 1st place
Scott Hagans – wheelchair race 1st place and tennis ball throw 1st place
Virgil Toney – 100m walk 1st place
Cheyenne Long- 100m run 4th place
Jonathan Moellers – softball throw 1st place
ACTION Services is a division of Conway County Center for Exceptional Children and provides day habilitation, work opportunities, and therapy services for adults living with disability.
